My recent findings are the most modern CSS extensions SASS and LESS.
SASS is referred to as Syntactically Awesome StyleSheets while LESS is The dynamic stylesheet language. I have read many things about these two extensions, here i will discuss about my own findings rather than giving you intro of these two. I will try to emphasize on their PROS and CONS and you may decide if its good to approach it or use traditional CSS.
For a beginner its always complicated to start with a project using one of these technologies. At times they have no idea where to start and how to build their code. These days there are compilers that will compile SASS and LESS for you. Before I go deeper into details let me give you two of the best compilers I am using, having no server side scripting experience so I prefer to use graphical compilers.
In Modern CMS Frameworks like YooThemes they are using LESS more as its independent of any technology, SASS is an extension of RoR so they don’t go into this. I will personally recommend LESS as you just need a file LESS.JS to run it on your personal website. I will recommend compile SASS or LESS locally and then upload both .less or .scss file with your compiled .CSS file so in future if someone has to make modifications in the site they can easily do.
In my next article I will try to focus on dynamic nature of SASS and LESS CSS. Both of these extensions use almost same structure so if you know any of SASS or LESS you should be comfortable programming the other one. If you have any question or need help with dynamic structure you can always leave a comment on this article and I will be happy to assist you.
